This blog was created by friends as a way for the Souzas to share Taylor's progress with us. Kristen and Sean have not asked for financial help, but their medical bills coupled with Kristen's loss of income is truly overwhelming. They are so appreciative of ALL of the different types of support they have received and are more grateful than you can know. Thank you!
Taylor is a beautiful, vibrant three-year-old girl who was recently diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia, a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. On June 18th, Taylor began an 8-10 month hospital stay. This blog will detail her journey back to good health!

Hello all - I hope you all had a great Sunday. Taylor had a decent couple of days but is very tired and not eating. She has not been sleeping well at night and I think she has gotten herself exhausted.

Yesterday, I went home to see Savannah for a couple of hours. We met some of our friends at a Fall Festival and went to a Spooktacular. Savannah had a great time and loved being with friends. Taylor played with Daddy, Grandma, and Papa and had a good day. Her rash came back again yesterday but it is still manageable.

Today, she woke up complaining that her stomach hurt. She is getting Zofran around the clock. She hasn't thrown up these last couple of days but had NO desire to eat today. She had a granola bar and would not eat any lunch. Grandma came and we decorated cookies and she ate one but would not eat any dinner or have any more cookies. She told me at 6:00 that she was "too tired" and we are now laying in bed watching Mickey Mouse!!! Aunt Betty and Papa also came today so she had fun with them. A couple of her friends from the 2nd floor stopped down so that brightened her day!!!

She has 2 more doses of her "blue" chemotherapy. She will also get a dose of the chemotherapy for the study that she is on. So...we are almost done with the chemotherapy for this round. Then the fun waiting game starts......is she going to get a fever, is she going to get mouth sores, is she going to eat????? So much fun......

That is all for tonight. I am SOOO tired so think I will try to go to bed when she does.

Have a great Monday,

Kristen

  1. Oh my friend...What an adorable picture of Taylor! What a sweet angel. Please tell Taylor that she looks so beautiful! I know this round is tough, but I am so glad to hear that she hasn't thrown up and that the rash is manageable. I pray that you both get some good rest...I can only imagine how tired you are. All my friends at Team in Training are asking about her and thinking about all of you.

    Take care my friend..

  2. Hey girls,

We are always praying for you guys. Taylor has so many people here in S. Florida praying for her all the time. Kristen, I pray for sleep and peace for you, I miss you. Carly and I have Taylor's picture right by our bed and we think about her all the time. Love, Kelly and Carly

  3. Oh Kristen, you guys go thru so much on a daily basis.....when is it going to end?! I hope Taylor takes this 'new blue' Chemo ok and doesn't throw up or get a rash (and all the other problems that you now have to worry about). Why can't Chemo just go after the bad mean cells?? Just one of my many questions that will never get answered...

Sending you tons of love, hugs and kisses! I miss seeing you guys. Your Takeda family is going to miss you so much at our POA. Know that all of us are thinking about you, wishing you were there and Taylor was all better!
    XOXO

Oh my heart breaks for you, Taylor and every member of your family dealing with this each and every day-- and all your friends at the hospital with their children going thru all of this! It seems so unfair and I cry reading your posts b/c I wish I could pray hard and long enough to make it all go away for these children!!

You are so amazing and your family is being prayed for all over, including my house all the time! We send love and prayers for you and your friends-- we pray for healing and peace and strength and no more pain! I am so sorry you are dealing with this! You sound like such an amazing and loving mother. Your children feel your love and all you are doing for them-- it is helping-- it really is! YOU are their comfort and security blanket and it sounds like you are so torn with both of them in different places but you are really doing an incredible job! Keep it up, try to sleep and we pray for your strength too!
    Sending love to you all!

  5. Nice photo. Want to share one quote for her.
A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for.
